Two+ decades across the global energy value chain
James began his career deep in the hard infrastructure of energy — LNG, oil and gas, and large-scale power. Over 23+ years he developed and led global teams responsible for deploying billions of dollars of energy infrastructure across Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, and Mexico, learning to build complex, capital-intensive systems on time and at scale.
SolarCity and Sunnova — solar at national scale
As the energy world tilted toward renewables, James moved to the front line of American solar with leadership roles connected to SolarCity and Sunnova. He helped scale utility and distributed solar across the country, deploying gigawatts of clean generation and building the operational muscle required to grow energy businesses rapidly without losing engineering discipline.
Re-shoring precision solar manufacturing
James founded Solx to solve a strategic gap: the United States consumes enormous quantities of solar hardware but manufactures too little of it. Solx builds solar panels on a next-generation, semi-autonomous, AI-driven production line — proving that domestic manufacturing can be cost-competitive, high-quality, and resilient, while creating high-skill industrial jobs.
Distributed Compute Infrastructure
James is now building the next layer of that thesis: a distributed compute infrastructure that generates intelligence where energy and people already are, rather than concentrating it in a handful of massive, remote data centers. The idea is strategic and simple — pair abundant, domestically manufactured energy with the surging compute demands of artificial intelligence, and put that capacity closer to where the power and the people already live. It is a bet on the next century of industrial power: whoever controls both energy and compute controls the future.
